Re disgust as humour: The Methods section of that paper is in itself a great example. It speaks of "high quality chocolate fudge" shaped like a "surprisingly realistic piece of dog faeces". Where else can you read something like that in a paper?!

Building on your own work and that of Curt Richter (specific hungers), do you think humans select foods based for their micronutrients? Possibly based on flavour-nutrient learning? Since meat is packed with micronutrients, could this partly explain why it is prized and does this make vegetarianism less appealing? (long question, apologies)
