Living with HIV - Positive Voices
On Friday 5 June 1981, the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), USA, reported that five young, previously healthy, men had been diagnosed with pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP). The report of the men’s illnesses and deaths marked the beginning of the AIDS crisis, with the first UK cases identified in December 1981. Since that day, over 32 million lives have been lost worldwide.

Throughout the years, the stigma associated with HIV and AIDS has often been expressed in conjunction with one or more prejudices, particularly with the LGBTQ+ community, sex work, and promiscuity. Although over 25 anti-viral HIV drugs are now available, taking the level of virus to undetectable levels, this stigma still exits.

Join us to hear from speakers from the Terrence Higgins Trust “Positive Voices” project, who will share their own experiences of living with HIV.
